As we all know, the traveling part of the excavator is mainly composed of driving wheels, supporting wheels, etc. Crawler tracks are widely used in construction machinery and equipment and are part of the traveling device of crawler excavators. Because excavators are generally used for construction in relatively harsh environments. Failures such as loosening, damage, and breakage of crawler tracks are inevitable. So what are the causes of track damage?
1. Driving on uneven roads
When an excavator is carrying out earthwork projects, the working site is generally uneven. Under such terrain conditions, if the crawler excavator walks improperly, the weight of the body will tend
to be local, and the local pressure will increase, which will cause damage to the crawler track. There will be damage and loosening problems will occur.
2. Improper operation when turning
When the excavator is turning, one of the crawlers on one side is walking and the other side is stationary, resulting in a large rotational movement. If the crawler is blocked by a raised part on the
ground, it will get stuck on the rotating side of the crawler. Tracks can be easily strained.
3. Walking for long periods of time
Excavators are not like cars that can be driven on the road for too long. Operators need to pay special attention to the fact that crawler excavators cannot be driven for too long. This will not only
cause great damage to the crawler tracks, but also affect the service life of the equipment. Therefore, The movement of the excavator must be controlled to a certain degree.
4. Failure to clean the gravel in the track in time
When the crawler excavator is working or moving, some gravel or soil will enter the crawler track. If it is not removed in time before walking, the gravel will be squeezed between the driving wheel,
guide wheel and the guide wheel as the crawler track rotates. Between the crawler tracks, over time, the excavator tracks will become loose and the chain rails will break.
5. Excavator parking is not reasonable enough
The crawler excavator cannot be parked ambiguously. It must be parked in a flat place. If it is uneven, it will cause uneven stress on the excavator track. The track on one side bears a greater weight,
and it is easy to pull the track due to stress concentration. broken or cracked.
Now that we understand the reasons why the track may be damaged, where should we start to maintain it?
When a roller is found to be unable to operate due to malfunction, it should be repaired promptly.
If some of the excavator's supporting sprockets or rollers cannot continue to operate, continuing to use them in this state may cause the rollers to wear off, and may even cause wear of the rail links. Therefore, when encountering such a situation, be sure to repair it immediately so that other failures can be avoided in time.
Avoid the excavator traveling on sloping ground or making sudden turns.
When the excavator repeatedly walks on sloping ground for a long time and makes sudden turns, the sides of the rail links will come into contact with the sides of the drive wheels and guide wheels,
resulting in increased wear. Therefore, during excavator operation, you should choose straight travel and large turns as much as possible, which can effectively prevent excessive wear.
Regularly inspect and reinforce bolts and nuts to effectively reduce wear
After the excavator has been working for a long time, components such as the track rollers, track plate bolts, driving wheel bolts, and traveling piping bolts can easily become loose due to vibration. If you continue to operate the equipment with the track pad bolts loose, a gap may develop between the bolts and the track pads, resulting in cracks in the track pads. The creation of gaps may also enlarge the bolt holes between the crawler tracks and rail links, making it impossible to tighten them, resulting in the need to replace the crawler tracks and rail links.
Although most of the causes of excavator track wear come from small details, it is these small details that are easily overlooked that may lead to major failures and consequences. No matter what kind of machine, only if you take careful care of the equipment over time, the equipment will last forever.
