Hengwang: Cooling System Service & Antifreeze Guide

Antifreeze, also known as coolant, mainly prevents the antifreeze from freezing and cracking the radiator and damaging engine components when the car is parked in the cold winter. In the summer when the temperature is high, it can effectively prevent boiling and avoid the phenomenon of boiling.

Maintenance cycle:

1. Before operation every day, check the antifreeze from the filling port to make sure the liquid level is above the filter;

2. Replace the antifreeze and clean the cooling system twice a year (spring and autumn) or every 1,000 hours. During this period, if the antifreeze is contaminated, the engine overheats or foam appears in the 

radiator, the cooling system should be cleaned.

Cleaning the cooling system:

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine, and apply the parking brake;

2. Wait until the antifreeze temperature drops below 50°C, then slowly unscrew the water radiator water inlet cap to release the pressure;

3. Open the two air conditioning and heater water inlet valves;

4. Open the water radiator drain valve, drain the engine antifreeze, and collect it in a container;

5. After the engine antifreeze is drained, close the water radiator drain valve;

6. Add a cleaning solution made of water and sodium carbonate to the engine cooling system. The mixing ratio is 0.5 kg of sodium carbonate per 23 liters of water. The liquid level should reach the normal engine 

use level and remain stable within ten minutes;

7. Close the radiator water inlet cap, start the engine, run at idle speed for 2 minutes, gradually load, turn on the air conditioner and warm air, and continue to work for 10 minutes;

8. Turn off the engine, when the antifreeze temperature is below 50℃, unscrew the water radiator cap, open the drain valve at the bottom of the water radiator, and drain the water in the system;

9. Close the drain valve, add clean water to the engine cooling system to the normal use level, and keep it from dropping within ten minutes, close the radiator water inlet cap, start the engine, run at idle speed 

for 2 minutes, gradually load, turn on the air conditioner and warm air, and continue to work for 10 minutes

10. Turn off the engine and drain the water in the cooling system. If the drained water is still dirty, the system must be cleaned again until the drained water becomes clean.

Add antifreeze:

1. Close all drain valves and add Hengwang special coolant from the filling port (do not remove the filter) to make the liquid level higher than the filter;

2. Close the radiator water filling port cap, start the engine, run it at idle speed for 5-10 minutes, turn on the air conditioner to fill the cooling system with liquid;

3. Turn off the engine, check the coolant level after the coolant level is calm, and confirm that the liquid level is higher than the filter.
