If the forklift is not used for a long period of time, some measures need to be taken to ensure that it remains in good condition and to prevent damage caused by improper storage. Here are some maintenance measures:
1. Clean the forklift: Thoroughly clean the forklift to remove all dirt, mud and dust, especially the forks, slides, alternator, starter, battery poles, water tank and air filter.
2. Check the fastening conditions: Check all fasteners on the forklift to make sure they are not loose, especially the fork bracket supports, lifting chain tightening screws, wheel screws, etc.
3. Moisture protection: If the forklift is stored in a humid environment, measures should be taken to protect it from moisture, such as using desiccant or storing the forklift in a dry warehouse.
4. Battery maintenance: Disconnect the battery to prevent battery self-discharge. If possible, charge regularly to maintain battery condition.
5. Tire protection: Check tire pressures to make sure they are adequate, and place blocks between the tires and the ground to prevent them from being stressed in one spot for extended periods of time.
6. Engine maintenance: Change engine oil and oil filter to prevent engine problems caused by oil deterioration.
7. Anti-corrosion: If the forklift is exposed to the outdoors, consider using anti-corrosion measures, such as applying rust-proof oil or using anti-corrosion coverings.
8. Regular Inspections: Even if the forklift is not in use, its condition should be checked regularly, including checking for leaks, damage, or other potential problems.
9. Lubrication: For parts that need lubrication, use new oil to squeeze out the old oil, and ensure sufficient lubrication to prevent parts from rusting or getting stuck.
10. Storage location: Choose a location that is protected from direct sunlight, has a stable temperature, and has good ventilation to store the forklift.
By following these maintenance measures, you can ensure that your forklift remains in good condition during long-term storage and can be put back to work quickly and safely when it is time to return to service.
